China SWS's First 21,000-teu Container Ship Launched Successfully
On December 25, the 21,000-teu large-scale container ship H1416 launched successfully. It is the world's largest container ship built by Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding for COSCO Shipping and designed by MARIC. This is by far China’s largest container ship in main dimension and the largest in container capacity, which is a breakthrough in China's shipbuilding industry.
Gu Zhongdong, Deputy General Manager of COSCO Shipping, Zhang Rongqiang, Deputy General Manager of China Classification Society Shanghai Branch, Zhou Wei, Business Manager of Lloyd's Register in Greater China, Sheng Jigang, General Manager of Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding and Changxing Heavy Industries, Chen Weiping, Deputy General Manager of Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding and Changxing Heavy Industries, The delegates from COSCO Shipping, LR, CCS and Changxing Heavy Industry Project Team attended the ceremony. The ceremony was chaired by Zou Yongyi, Deputy General Manager of Changxing Heavy Industries.
The 21,000-teu container ship has a total length of about 400 meters, 58.6 meters in Width and 33.5 meters in depth. The designed draft is 14.5 meters, the structure draft is 16 meters, the speed is 22 knots with 21237-teu capacity and 1000-teu cold box capacity. It has identified by the Lloyd's Register (LR) and China Classification Society (CCS).
