Shanghai Shipping Exchange Forum 2017

In 2017, the shipping market has entered a stage of overall recovery. It’s vital for the shipping industry to seize the opportunity and deeply integrate the big data and shipping. The excavation of big data and the rapid development of shipping technology bring about the upgrading and transformation of information service platform, which will lead to the revolution of shipping service mode and profit-making mode, and finally achieve the leap-forward development of shipping operation system.

At the 2017 Shanghai Shipping Exchange Forum on November 28, academics and industry insiders from the shipping and port industries discussed new changes brought by big data to the port and shipping industry.

Pudong New District Mayor Hang Yingwei said, "Pudong is the core functional area for the construction of Shanghai International Shipping Center. In recent years, especially since the founding of the Shanghai Free Trade Zone, the shipping industry in Pudong has made great strides. Pudong is focusing on the collection, development and application of big data, so as to establish a unified public credit information service platform for the district as a starting point to build a public data sharing platform, including shipping enterprises. "

Deputy Secretary & CEO of Shanghai International Port Group Jun Yan said, "In the future, big data allows customers of the Yangtze River to transport containers just like buying a plane ticket. They can choose the optimal solution themselves. "

Xu Zuyuan, the IMO Maritime Ambassador and the former Vice Minister of the Ministry of Transport said, "Big data will enhance the service quality and efficiency of the port and shipping industry. It can be predicted that the value generated by big data will become an important part of the overall efficiency of the port and shipping industry. "

Standing in the forefront of the big data era, "Shanghai Shipping Index" add new members. Shanghai Shipping Exchange announced at the forum: the Far East Dry Bulk Index (FDI) and China Coastal Tanker Freight Index (CCTFI) officially released.

After nearly 20 years’ development, the "Shanghai Shipping Index" has covered various shipping-related major market fields such as containers, dry bulk, oil tankers, ships sale and purchase, "Belt and Road", salaries of sailors and shipping companies development conditions. Besides, it has formed a comprehensive and authoritative index system.

The Shanghai Shipping Exchange Forum is a specialized, internationalized and large-scale shipping boutique forum started by Shanghai Shipping Exchange since 2010. Each year, the forum selects a key issue concerning the future of shipping. The forum's elites bring together their wonderful views and their innovative practice will lead the market.
